After 2 nights and 3 days off-campus, i am more than very glad to be back on campus! Leaving my comfort zone for these few days was far from being easy.
First of all, the bed quality was below low & the toilets were simply HORRIBLE!
Nevertheless, my stay in the National Park in Pahang, which is by the way the oldest rainforest tropical forest in the world, was really nice and refreshing.
Why nice? I managed to learn more about my chinese friends (who are on mobility programme from University of Nottingham China Campus).
Why refreshing? i was away from keyboard, from the comfort of my room, away from internet and technology, away from my friends…but i made some new friends and finally, i breathe some really fresh air ![]()
At night, it was really great. Sitting outside and star-gazing…how peaceful the night can be in the rainforest whenever it doesnt rain

Stargazing...
Okay, only animals were making some noise. Otherwise, it was fine =)

As you can see, a photo of the group. I am on the extreme left, standing with ‘white tshirt and long sleeves’…
I’m the only non-chinese from China ^_^
When we first reached the ‘holiday camp’, i think we were the only customers so far…LOL! We went for a walk and had a look at the surroundings before coming back for dinner. The food was not nice! I prefer not to describe it.
At night, we played cards and i went to bed early after having had a “shower”. Yeah, the showering was unpleasant and it was out of necessity that i had a quick shower. The following morning, we had breakfast before leaving for the hill…from where the guide took the group photo. The hill was relatively easy to climb. In fact, it is only 1hr travel. The only problem was the leeches. So many of them coming out of nowhere!
The way back was faster but somewhat more dangerous, thanks to the slippy nature of the ground
Luckily, nobody got hurt! =)
Then we had lunch, again far from being fulfilling…we went to canopy walk. It is a series of suspended walkway on trees. A little bit scary but there wasnt much scenery to see…
Afterwards, we headed back to the camp before leaving it a few minutes later for the rafting experience. Everyone got soaked to the skin. My shoes and eventually clothing were in a real mess after the rafting fun!
Night was peaceful. We didnt go out. I tried to sleep and thanks to the cooler climate at night, i had a good night sleep.
The final day, only breakfast before leaving the camp site.
Travelling by bus is not always fun. If you have at least 1 friend, it is great. Make the most of the journey. Otherwise, i wouldnt advise anyone to go all alone. That was my case during the return trip. Sitting by myself in the crowded bus ( nd 2nd bus was a coach, but it was a piece of crap where i was sitting!), wase extremely boring!
Anyway, as said earlier, i tried to see only the positive side of the trip. Great Experience!
